FAQs

Is the gap fee the same for short and long consultations?

Yes, the gap fee is generally similar, with only a small variation of around one dollar depending on the consultation length.

  • Non-concession gap: approximately $45–$46
  • Concession gap: approximately $25–$26

Do you still bulk bill any appointments?

Yes, in specific circumstances:

  • All 2–4 weekly follow-up consultations after the initial appointment are bulk billed, provided no procedures are performed
  • Consultations related to procedure complications (such as infection, bleeding, or delayed healing) are bulk billed
  • Ongoing care for complications is bulk billed even if treatment extends over weeks or months

Are skin cancer checks bulk billed?

No. Skin checks are not bulk billed. However:

  • Medicare rebates apply
  • Discounted fees are available for concession card holders
  • Private health insurance generally does not cover skin checks, except for overseas visitors or students residing in Australia who have private health coverage.

Do skin cancer procedures incur additional costs?

Yes. Procedures such as biopsies and definitive or therapeutic excisions of skin cancers may involve an out-of-pocket cost, which depends on factors like:

  • The size and location of the lesion
  • The complexity of the procedure
  • The type of wound closure required

All costs are explained before any procedure is performed.

Are there any patients with no gap fees?

DVA Gold Card holders: No gap fees (billed directly to DVA)

Do you offer payment plans or part payments?

We do not offer payment plans or part payments.

In cases of financial difficulty for complex procedures and higher upfront costs, arrangements may be made for the patient to pay the gap fee only, with the Medicare benefit issued by cheque to the patient. The patient is responsible for delivering this cheque to the clinic promptly.

What payment methods are accepted?

  • EFTPOS
  • Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard)
  • Cash
