Rosacea Skincare

Although there is no cure, managing rosacea effectively begins with a precise and gentle skincare routine. The goal is to reduce inflammation, prevent flare-ups, and repair your skin’s barrier—while using makeup and targeted active ingredients carefully.

Patients with rosacea often have highly sensitive skin, therefore, appropriate product selection is critical. Always opt for non-irritating, fragrance-free formulations designed for sensitive skin or conditions like eczema or dermatitis.

It is particularly important for patients with rosacea to follow expertly tailored skin routines which can be done through thorough consultation with our skin experts at Elixir.

Occasionally, Topical and Oral Prescription Medications play an important role for managing Rosacea particularly in moderate to severe rosacea. Topical treatments such as Metronidazole, Ivermectin, Azelaic Acid, and Brimonidine help reduce redness, inflammation and skin sensitivity. In some cases, low dose oral antibiotics may be prescribed to target inflammation and control flare-ups. These treatments are available through consultation with one of our doctors at Elixir, who will assess your skin and create a tailored management plan suited to your specific needs.

Rosacea-Friendly Skin Rejuvenation Treatments:

LED (Light Emitting Diode) Therapy- particularly red and near infrared wavelengths can be highly beneficial for treating rosacea by helping to reduce inflammation, calm redness and support skin barrier repair. Red light penetrates the skin to promote cellular regeneration and stimulate collagen production, which can strengthen fragile capillaries and improve overall skin resilience. It also has a soothing effect on the skin making it ideal for sensitive or reactive rosacea prone complexions. Unlike IPL, LED is completely non-invasive, painless, and safe to use during flare ups making it a gentle yet effective ongoing treatment option for managing symptoms and improving skin health over time.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)-  is an effective treatment for managing rosacea, particularly the vascular type, by targeting and collapsing blood vessels and reducing diffuse facial redness. The light energy is absorbed by haemoglobin, helping to calm inflammation and improve overall skin tone and texture. While generally safe, IPL can cause temporary redness, swelling, or in rare cases pigment changes or skin irritation, especially in sensitive rosacea prone skin.

It’s most beneficial for erythematotelangiectatic rosacea and should be avoided during active flares. A series of initial treatments and well as intermittent maintenance sessions is usually recommended for optimal, long lasting results.

Mesotherapy for barrier repair and hydration. Skin needling of hydrating serums such as Hyaluronic Acid, Exosomes  or soothing Peptides can help improve the skin’s resilience and hydration without triggering inflammation. This treatment should be approached conservatively and not during active flares.

Chemical peels (mildly formulated for rosacea) using ingredients such as lactic acid and enzymes can be used cautiously in rosacea prone skin to help with hydration, congestion, uneven skin tone and barrier function. These must be carefully selected and monitored to avoid triggering a flare.

Micro HydraLift Facials can be beneficial for rosacea-prone skin when performed with rosacea safe protocols and calming ingredients. This treatment combines gentle exfoliation, deep hydration, and lymphatic drainage to help remove surface build up, calm inflammation, and support healthy circulation without triggering sensitivity. The infusion of soothing, anti-inflammatory serums such as Niacinamide and antioxidants help further hydrate and strengthen the impaired skin barrier, reducing redness and improving skin resilience over time. When adapted for sensitive skin, this treatment offers a gentle yet effective way to calm, nourish and refresh rosacea, prone complexions.
